International Baccalaureate

St. Ann Catholic School is an International Baccalaureate World School approved to offer the Primary Years and Middle Years Programmes. We are one of a few Catholic schools in the world that offer both the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP).

The IB programmes at St. Ann Catholic School work to cultivate intercultural awareness, holistic knowledge and communication skills within a dimension of Catholic education. As an IB World School, we strive to develop students who are critical and compassionate thinkers, life-long learners, and informed participants in local and world affairs, conscious of the shared humanity that binds all people together while respecting others and their cultures.

The IB programmes, while challenging, are not elitist programmes for gifted students only. Instead, IB draws from research and best practices from around the world to create a engaging, student-centered educational framework that can benefit all students.

The Primary Years Programme is an inquiry based curriculum designed for children ages 3 to 12.

The Middle Years Programme is a student centered design for children 11 to 16.

Both involve a commitment to high-quality, challenging international education that St. Ann believes is important for its students. We are blessed to be able to offer our students a continuum of IB education with both the Primary Years and Middle Years Programmes. In addition, we have a 100% acceptance rate to both Cardinal Newman High School and Suncoast High, two very highly-rated high schools with the IB Diploma Programmes.

The IB mission statement:

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
